Virgin Atlantic’s cabin bag allowance is one of the more precise of any major long-haul carrier. The maximum dimensions are 56 x 36 x 23cm including wheels and handles, with a combined 10kg weight limit across both the cabin bag and personal item on Economy and Premium Economy fares. The width limit of 36cm is the one to watch, many 20 inch hard shell cases run slightly wider and won’t pass if checked. Lugg’s 20 inch Jetset, Vacay and Sky Rover cabin suitcases at 55 x 35 x 23cm clear the width restriction with 1cm to spare. The depth of 23cm matches Virgin Atlantic’s limit exactly, so pack carefully and don’t overfill.
Virgin Atlantic includes a cabin bag and personal item on every fare, including Economy Light. The difference between fares is hold luggage: Economy Light includes no free checked bag, Economy Classic and Delight include one at 23kg, Premium Economy two at 23kg and Upper Class two at 32kg. The checked bag maximum size is 90 x 75 x 43cm, a limit that no standard suitcase comes close to. Lugg’s medium, large and XL check-in suitcases all sit comfortably within that.
